We have monthly votes to decide the book of the month. We seek to broaden our horizons by reading different genres from various socio-cultural backgrounds. This is our monthly rendezvous to discuss the same.

Readers Guide To Chaos x Visamo Kids
November 2021
We visited Visamo kids, a nonprofit organization (a boarding school for underprivileged children), where we conducted a drawing competition for kids aged 9 to 12. The kids were shown a video of a popular fictional story, Akbar and Birbal, after which we asked them to draw their favorite character or favorite scene from the story. We provided them with stationery items and papers. One of our team members drew a few samples to provide them with a basic idea of how to proceed. After an hour, we collected everyone’s drawings and distributed chocolates to them. After deciding a winner from each age category we awarded the winners with stationery kits. This experience was enriching for us and interacting with the kids gave us an idea of how to plan future activities for them.
December 2021 & January 2022
During our Christmas break, we started a book collection drive in our neighborhoods, organized them by age and genre. On 23 January, we donated 150+ books to Visamo kids. Books play a pivotal role in our cognitive and logical development as young minds. Books can also comfort you during the worst time but also provide certain escapism when needed. So it’s essential that these young kids inculcate reading habits as early as possible. Thank you so much to everyone who donated! We couldn’t have done this without you.
February 2022
Continuing our community service endeavors, this time we conducted a zine-making workshop at Visamo kids. We showed samples of the zine we made ourselves and guided them in a step-by-step process to make their own. After distributing the papers and stationery, we began the workshop. They were intrigued by the creativity yet simplicity of it. From our previous experience, we learned that the kids enjoy competitions so we turned the workshop into one. All of us helped them with their zines and by the end of the hour, we were faced with the difficult task of choosing just 5 winners from a total of 20. The winners were awarded their prizes and the rest received chocolates. Additionally, we also donated our stationery items such as crayons, pencils, and papers to the foundation for the kids to use. All in all, it was a success.
